Happy...

November 06, 2012

Aloha Lovelies!  So this is not the normal type of post you'd expect to read on my blog, but I thought I would share with you all something that means a lot to me.

Positive Thinking.
Random as this might be, positive thinking is what I want to talk to you all about. In life if you can think positively, I really think it can help you overcome stress and negativity. Now, I am no psychologist or councillor , but over time, I have find found a few little tricks to helping me 'be happy' and stay positive.

It's very easy sometimes to get carried away in life's little stresses and annoyances, and that's why I think it is good to take even just a minute to realise all the positive things that have happened to you in your day. As much as I can I think to myself, 'name 3 positive things that have happened to you today'. They can be as little as 'I really enjoyed seeing the sunrise this morning' or 'That email I read really made me smile'. I know it might sound a bit silly, but I have found it really works after I have had a bit of a pants day and would like to cheer myself up.

Another thing you can do is take some time to pamper yourself. It doesn't have to be with a beauty product or some new make-up, it could be pampering yourself with time. Leaving yourself half and hour a day to just sit down and read a magazine or have a bath. Taking time to appreciate the smaller things in life can be good. You don't have to do much to give yourself some 'me time', just do what you enjoy best. Even smiling to yourself, randomly can make you feel a little happier.

Think to yourself. If I showed you a glass with some water in it, would you think it was half full or half empty. As corny as this may seem, it is a good way of looking at your outlook on life. Are you a positive or negative person? I would like to think I was quite positive. Now I'm not saying everyone is happy, smiley, cheery, yipeee all the time, (that would almost be impossible!), but just sometimes stopping and thinking about your approach to something can be good.
I would like to take life by the hand and experience so many things. Saying yes to opportunities can be better than you think. Question yourself, what have you got to lose? In an everyday situation, would going out be better than staying in? Would you experience something amazing which you wouldn't have experienced if you hadn't gone out or taken that opportunity?

I hope this brief little post of randomness as helped even one of you just to try thinking differently.

Quarter tomatoes and add.
Half Caper-berries and add.
Cut avocado and spoon out insides. Cut and add to bowl.
Drizzle over a small amount of olive oil and then finally drizzle over a small amount of good quality Balsamic Vinegar.

To be extra healthy, serve with crusty bread and a smoothie.

The Winter Midi...

November 03, 2012

Aloha Lovelies! So today I was having a little wonder around the charity shops (what a surprise!), when I came across this beautiful pleated midi skirt. Now, some of you might have realised that it is very similar to a pink pleated midi skirt that I have (and use in many blog posts!), and I thought this would be a great alternative for winter. The camera and poopy lighting make it look black, but it is in fact navy blue.

When it gets colder I tend to put leggings or tights under a midi or maxi skirt for a bit of added warmth. Also, layering different textures and patterns on the top can make a plain skirt more interesting

This skirt was the bargainous price of £1.99 and I cannot wait to start wearing it!

Outfit 1
Top/Dress- £5 from £10 Primark, Leather Jacket £39.99 New Look, Necklace £3.99 H&M.

Outfit 2
Top £0.99 Charity Shop, Necklace £3.50 (sale) Topshop.

October Favourites...

November 01, 2012

Aloha Lovlies! Long time no see, (again....oops sorry!). I promise there will be more regular blog posts coming up! Anyway, on with my October Favourites. October has gone so quickly and I cannot believe it's November already (whhhaatt?) I don't have too many favourites this month but that's probably a good thing as I always seem to ramble on in my favourites posts.

001.Models Own Trio.
I love the colours in this trio which I picked up in TKmaxx for the most bargainous price of £6. I think the colours are perfect for autumn/winter and I have re-painted my nails with them many a time.

002. Primark Home Cinnamon Clove Scented Candle. I have never bought a candle from Primark before, but after smelling this and seeing the uber cute snowflake design on the top, I couldn't resist. It was a bargain at only £1.50!

003. Etre Natural Beauty Nail File (buy kit here). I love this nail file as it has different levels of abrasiveness. I especially like the buffing one as it leaves your nails beautifully soft and shiny. I use this along with the Etre Cuticle Oil for extra softness.

004. Topshop Cream Blush in 'Head Over Heels' (buy here). When I bought this blush I loved the colour but found it a bit of a faf to use. I left it and didn't use it much for a bit, but this month I have re-discovered my love for it. The colour is beautiful and it is actually really easy to apply. I use a dense brush and just dot a little my cheeks and blend. I don't think you get much product for the price though.

005. Now this a bit of a random one, but I received my new phone a couple of days ago and have fallen in love with it. It is the Samsung Galaxy S2. It is feels and works a bit like an Iphone (which I refuse to pay the extortionate price for) and it is far cheaper. I am no phone expert, but in simple terms, it is bloody brilliant!

Two Necklaces which I have been LOVING this month are:
this H&M gold necklace which is so versatile and was an absolute bargain at only £3.99, and...

this Topshop skull necklace which is beautiful and was a bargain
as I picked it up in the sale for £3.50!

Bargain of the century...!

October 20, 2012

Again, sorry for the lack of blog posts this week, I have just been so busy recently that blogging has taken a bit of a back seat, *slap on the wrists* and I need to get back into doing it more frequently.

I was rummaging round my local charity shops the other day and came across one of my most bargainous buys ever! I found a black pair (the ones I have really wanted) of Topshop Leigh Jeans. Now if you don't already know, these are Topshops's super soft and super skinny jeans, and for someone who doesn't really like to wear jeans as they find them uncomfortable, these are perfect. Now, Topshop Leigh Jeans retail for £38 and I managed to bag the beauties for....*wait for it*....£1.99. Yes, that is £1.99!!!! I literally couldn't believe it and snapped them up before anyone else could.

I paired them with my New Look Leather Jacket (buy here) and another top which I found in a charity shop for only £3. It was originally from New Look and I love it to pieces! (buy here). On the bottom I am wearing just a plain pair of blue canvas shoes (buy here). I am also wearing this beautiful necklace that I picked up for only £3.99 in H&M.

What bargains have you been picking up recently?

Review: Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Foundation...

October 13, 2012

Long time no see lovelies  sorry for the lack of blog posts this week I have been uber busy and have not had the time to blog. I'm here now though to give you my review on Collection 2000's Lasting Perfection Foundation. There is so much hype over their infamous Lasting Perfection Concealer, so I thought I would give their foundation a go and see if it lives up to its sister product.

It was on offer in Superdrug for £3.99 instead of £5.99 which I think is an amazing price for a foundation. I didn't really know what I was expecting when I bought it and I would say that now I have mixed feelings about it. Just like the concealer I would say it is medium to full coverage. It lasts a long time (clues in the title!) and I like the fact it is oil free as my skin type has become a lot more oily recently, and I need something that will stay on my face for longer than half a day!

I did find it quite hard to blend compared to something like the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation as it just isn't as smooth. I ended up using my fingers as it was just too difficult to blend easily with my brush. Maybe with a different type of brush it would work better though. I really don't like the smell as it reminds me of sun-cream and that's a smell I really hate. I would say it really gave my skin a flawless finish though which I really like  I would use a powder over the top of it as it can feel a little but tacky once applied. At the same time I bought the foundation I bought a Collection 2000 powder and I have to say I love it. It works really well over this foundation and others. It's not cakey and applies well. It is also the bargainous price of £1.99. I got my foundation in the shade 2 Ivory, but I think it might be a little dark for me so I would be interested in seeing the lightest colour.

Overall I would give this foundation 3/5. It is cheap and good coverage. It lasts a long time and is great for anyone on a make-up budget!

What are your favourite budget foundations and have you tried this one before?

Room Tour...

October 07, 2012

So this is my room tour ( and my 100th post!). You might be thinking this is the type of thing you see only on YouTube, but I thought I would bring it to my blog and share my little space of madness with you all.

I am one of those people who changes their room around all the time. I am also someone who wants pieces in my room to be unique and quirky. I have had impulsive moments in the past when re-designing my room, such as ripping up the carpet and painting the floorboards white just because I felt like it! I like my room to reflect me and my personality and I definitely think it does that.

In February I moved from a spacious modern house to a small cottage. I am having to deal with having a smaller room, but I really don't mind because I am now living in the house of my dreams. It's got quirky character and period features and that's what I love in a house. Anyway enough of my rambling...here is my room!

How To: Big Vampy Red Lip...

October 06, 2012

This autumn I have been really inspired to wear a deep red lip. Wearing a deep lip can be hard to get away with, but if you keep the rest of your make-up simple then you'll be good to go. This is a how-to on how I get my vampy autumnal lip.

Products to use-
Lipsticks
Splurge: Mac Rebel £14
Spend: Kate Moss for Rimmel London in shade 107 £5.49
Save: MUA Lipstick in Shade 1 £1

Other Products-
Lip Scrub/ Toothbrush
Lip Balm
Lip Brush
Lip Gloss
Make-up wipe/ Tissue

Step 1.
Exfoliate your lips using either a lip scrub or a tooth brush in gentle circular motions to get rid of any dead skin.

Step 2.
Condition your lips by using a moisturising lip balm. I used Blistex Intensive Moisture but you could use whatever you like best.

Step 3.
Using any foundation, take a small amount and apply to your lips to create a nude base. I used Rimmel  Wake Me Up Foundation.

Step 4.

Take a lip brush, I used a Ruby and Millie Lip brush, and line the outside of your lips with your lipstick of choice. I never use lip liner but it's completely up to you whether you use one or not.

Step 5.
Using the lip brush again, fill in the rest of your lip. I am using MUA Lipstick in Shade 1. I think this lipstick is a good dupe for the Kate Moss for Rimmel London Lipstick in shade 107, but it is slightly less matte and doesn't have as much pink pigment in it. On the upside it's a fifth of the price!

Step 6. Go over your whole lip using the lipstick and not the brush to make the colour more intense.

Step 7.  (optional) Add a gloss to make the lips appear fuller. You could use a plumping gloss or just an ordinary one. I used MUA Lipgloss in Shade 5. This gloss is actually pink but it is not very pigmented so just appears as a clear gloss. And there we have it, you're done!

DISCLAMER: This is how I do my vampy lip. I am no make-up artist, I am just giving ideas and showing people what I do.
