What's In My Travel Make-Up Bag?...

December 28, 2012

Aloha Lovelies!

So I didn't intend to do one of these posts, but I got so excited whilst packing for my holiday (yes, packing really does float my boat), that I just couldn't resist showing you what I was taking with me!

Now, I'm only going away for a week and for some of you this might look like quite a lot, but I can assure you, I'm not taking as many clothes as I normally do when I go away, so I'm allowing myself to take a little more make-up etc. as I am enjoying mixing my make-up up a lot at the moment! (You fellow beauty lovers should understand!)

So first of all, this is the contents of my make-up bag. The bag itself is from Ted Baker and I just love it. It's the perfect size and I love the signature Ted Baker look of it.

So when it comes to foundation I couldn't just take one! So I'm taking, Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation and Maybelline Fit Me Foundation*. I love all three of these foundations as they all offer something different.

For the face I'm taking two blushes, Topshop's Cream Blush in 'Head Over Heels' and MUA's Blusher in Shade 4. I am also taking my Sleek Face Contour Kit in 'Light' and my Collection 2000 Pressed Powder. For Eyebrows I'm taking my Sleek Brow Kit in 'Light', MUA Eyeshadow in Shade 19-Matt and MUA Clear Mascara (to set them with) in Shade 1.

Now when it came to eyes I decided to just take my Clinique Eyeshadow Quad in 'Plum Seduction' as it is small and gives a variety of colours. I am also taking my MUA Professional Eye Primer and two eyeliners, Loreal Super Liner Perfect Slim and Rimmel Waterproof Gel Liner. For Mascara I'm taking Rimmel Scandle Eyes Waterproof Mascara, Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara and Clinique High Impact Mascara as they all work well together.

For Lips I decided to just take a simple pink (Kate Moss for Rimmel Shade '101'), some Vaseline and a vampy red (Kate Moss for Rimmel Shade '107').

For nails I couldn't quite decide (suprising?) so I ended up taking Essie 'Fear and Desire', Models Own 'Garnet' and Essie 'Bikini So Teeny'.

My choice of perfume is Zara Women Black. Now, I have never owned a Zara Perfume before, but they are actually really nice. This smells just like 'Le Petite Robe Noire' from Guerlain and yet it's a fraction of the price!
And finally when it comes to make-up brushes I just kept it simple so decided to take some of my Real Techniques set plus one Clinique Powder Brush. From L-R, RT Contour Brush, Clinique Powder Brush, RT Detail Brush and RT Buffing Brush.

I just want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and I'll see you in 2013.

Happy 1st Birthday Love Vintage!

December 27, 2012

Aloha Lovelies!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and spent lots of time eating and being merry! I'm so sorry I haven't blogged in a while, life has just been so busy at the moment that I simply haven't had the time, but in the new year I promise I'll get back into the swing of things!

Today is a very significant day because on this very day 1 year ago, I had the idea of starting a blog. Before I started blogging I didn't watch YouTube videos or read anyone else's blogs, I just had a love for creating outfits and messing around with make up looks. I started Love Vintage because I just wanted to post pictures and natter about what I had a passion for, and little did I know that it was going to be a success and that anybody would even read it. I just did it for me because I enjoyed it and I still would hope it is that way. All I can say to you guys is thank you. Thank you for taking the time to read about my crazy little ideas and babble about the things I like! So Happy Birthday Love Vintage, I can't believe you're 1 already!

I go off on holiday for a week now (phew, I need the break!), and I'll have little internet, but have a great New Year and I'll see you in 2013. This is only the beginning and the rest is yet to come.

Cosy Up...

December 13, 2012

                                                                 Aloha Lovelies!

FINALLY after over 10 days I have managed to get pictures to work on my blog! * Hallelujah!* so I shall now be back to blogging as always and I have so many posts lined up to do!

So after seeing a beautiful striped jumper in Topshop, but at the rather large price tag of £36, I oomed and ahhed about whether to buy it. 'Was it worth the money?' I thought, but, when I was having a stroll around the shops I came across a jumper very similar jumper in * surprise, surprise  PRIMARK. Also the plus point was that it was only £8! I bought it straight away and have not regretted it since!

It is a beautiful chunky knit, navy and white striped jumper. It is so cosy and warm and I have barely taken it off since I bought it. I got a size 18 as it was all they had left, but it fits really well as an over sized jumper. It looks amazing with a chunky knit scarf and a leather jacket, but it can also be worn over things like maxi-skirts and dresses. I think this is such a versatile piece and it was just such a bargain. Thank goodness for Primark.

Jumper Primark, Jeans Topshop Leigh*charity shop*, Bag Primark *charity shop*, Scarf ZARA, Socks Topshop and Boots Office, Ring Rosy Jewellery and Lipstick Kate Moss for Rimmel 107.
What bargains have you picked up in Primark recently?

November Favourites...

December 02, 2012

Aloha Lovelies!

I'm back with my November favourites and again, without trying to sound corny- where has the month gone?! It has gone so quickly but I am now oh so excited as its nearly CHRISTTTMAAAAASSSS!
Now it is December, I am allowing myself to get excited. In fact last night, I even lit a fire just to feel christmassy! But anyhow, I'll stop with the rambling and these are a few of the things that I have been loving this month.

I have no doubt that most of you will have already heard of this product as it is super-raved about in the blogging world, and now, I can see why. Without sounding gross, I didn't even know my face could feel this clean. It removes make up amazingly and although daunting at first, removes your eye make-up as well. It just feels like it's going deep into your face and removing all of the daily make-up and grime. It shall now be a holy grail skincare product of mine.

I know this is a bit of an odd thing to have in a favourites, but I really do like this product. I have really weak, thin nails that break and split a lot. After using ordinary polish remover and feeling like it was damaging my nails, I decided to use this hoping it would help. I really do feel like it has worked slightly and it is well worth paying the extra pound or so compared to an ordinary nail polish remover.

I love this lipstick. The colour is a beautiful, quite a natural looking baby pink. Although it is matte it does feel a little creamy and the colour pay off is amazing. I think it's much more wearable than the Kate Moss 107 which I have, and is raved about a lot. I think I want every single lipstick in this collection though as they are just beautiful!

I absolutely ADORE this nail polish. I have worn it so much! I got it free with Glamour magazine and it is probably one of the best free gifts I have ever found. It is a beautiful navy blue colour that is a wonderful alternative to black. I just love it, and last time I checked it was still available with glamour mag, but I'd hurry to avoid missing out on a bargain!
This is also another really raved about product. I have been late in trying this concealer, but I absolutely love it. It's coverage is fantastic and I use it under my eyes and on any spots or blemishes. I'm not sure about the colour on me (I bought 'light'), as I think it might be just a tad dark for my skin tone, but fair was a little light. I really do recommend this product though!

                                                  Poundland Tarten/Checkered Scarf
I adore this scarf so much that I have even written a review on it! It is beautiful and only cost £1! I got mine in red but there were a variety of colours available. It is not the warmest, but for a pound you can't complain!

I bought a tartan scarf...finally!

November 22, 2012

Aloha Lovlies!

So finally, after much searching I found a tartan scarf that I love to pieces and don't mind paying for. In fact, it is probably one of the most bargainous (and random!) things that I have bought. I've seen a couple of these scarfs in places such as H&M and they were around the £8 mark. I know it might sound tight, but I knew that I could find one somewhere cheaper so put off buying it.

The other day whilst on a spontaneous trip to Brighton, I was walking around Poundland when I saw this scarf. I didn't even realise Poundland sold scarfs etc. but clearly, it was my lucky day. It was labelled as a mens scarf but to be honest, it doesn't really look too masculine. They had a blue and a red version and I wish I'd picked up both, but in the flurry of exitement I didn't!

I wear this all the time now as it literally goes with everything! It's not the thickest of scarfs but for the price, it's perfect!

November 19, 2012

Now, in no way am I boasting or trying to get you all to buy from my website, I am merely sharing with you all, something that I love and have done! (That's the point of blogging eh?)

After seeing many peoples small independent jewellery websites I thought 'Why not start my own?!', so that's exactly what I did. I aim to sell fashionable jewellery and credit crunch busting prices! The website has only been running a couple of days but I thought I would share with you some of the jewellery I am selling.

Clashing the patterns...

November 10, 2012

I have been really into layering now the weather has become a lot colder, and I like to do this by adding scarfs, cardis, hats etc. I also like wearing vibrant colours as I think they brighten up the day slightly! This outfit is a clash of the print in the skirt and the pattern of the scarf. Adding a leather jacket means it is quite casual but still looks good. To keep your legs super toasty and warm you could wear a pair of tan tights underneath black or knitted tights, and add boots and thick socks on the bottom.

Happy...

November 06, 2012

Aloha Lovelies!  So this is not the normal type of post you'd expect to read on my blog, but I thought I would share with you all something that means a lot to me.

Positive Thinking.
Random as this might be, positive thinking is what I want to talk to you all about. In life if you can think positively, I really think it can help you overcome stress and negativity. Now, I am no psychologist or councillor , but over time, I have find found a few little tricks to helping me 'be happy' and stay positive.

It's very easy sometimes to get carried away in life's little stresses and annoyances, and that's why I think it is good to take even just a minute to realise all the positive things that have happened to you in your day. As much as I can I think to myself, 'name 3 positive things that have happened to you today'. They can be as little as 'I really enjoyed seeing the sunrise this morning' or 'That email I read really made me smile'. I know it might sound a bit silly, but I have found it really works after I have had a bit of a pants day and would like to cheer myself up.

Another thing you can do is take some time to pamper yourself. It doesn't have to be with a beauty product or some new make-up, it could be pampering yourself with time. Leaving yourself half and hour a day to just sit down and read a magazine or have a bath. Taking time to appreciate the smaller things in life can be good. You don't have to do much to give yourself some 'me time', just do what you enjoy best. Even smiling to yourself, randomly can make you feel a little happier.

Think to yourself. If I showed you a glass with some water in it, would you think it was half full or half empty. As corny as this may seem, it is a good way of looking at your outlook on life. Are you a positive or negative person? I would like to think I was quite positive. Now I'm not saying everyone is happy, smiley, cheery, yipeee all the time, (that would almost be impossible!), but just sometimes stopping and thinking about your approach to something can be good.
I would like to take life by the hand and experience so many things. Saying yes to opportunities can be better than you think. Question yourself, what have you got to lose? In an everyday situation, would going out be better than staying in? Would you experience something amazing which you wouldn't have experienced if you hadn't gone out or taken that opportunity?

I hope this brief little post of randomness as helped even one of you just to try thinking differently.

Super Speedy, Super Simple Salad...

November 03, 2012

So this is my 'Super Speedy, Super Simple Salad'. It is a healthy, tasty dish that could be made for a quick lunch or a tasty tea. You can literally use what you have in, but this is what I used in mine...

Serves 1

Ingredients-
Mixed Salad
1 Red/Yellow/Orange Pepper
2 Tomatoes
2 Caper-berries
Half an avocado
Olive Oil
Balsamic Vinegar

Method:
Add mixed salad to bowl.
Cut up a pepper into small batons and add.
Quarter tomatoes and add.
Half Caper-berries and add.
Cut avocado and spoon out insides. Cut and add to bowl.
Drizzle over a small amount of olive oil and then finally drizzle over a small amount of good quality Balsamic Vinegar.

To be extra healthy, serve with crusty bread and a smoothie.

The Winter Midi...

November 03, 2012

Aloha Lovelies! So today I was having a little wonder around the charity shops (what a surprise!), when I came across this beautiful pleated midi skirt. Now, some of you might have realised that it is very similar to a pink pleated midi skirt that I have (and use in many blog posts!), and I thought this would be a great alternative for winter. The camera and poopy lighting make it look black, but it is in fact navy blue.

When it gets colder I tend to put leggings or tights under a midi or maxi skirt for a bit of added warmth. Also, layering different textures and patterns on the top can make a plain skirt more interesting

This skirt was the bargainous price of £1.99 and I cannot wait to start wearing it!

Outfit 1
Top/Dress- £5 from £10 Primark, Leather Jacket £39.99 New Look, Necklace £3.99 H&M.

Outfit 2
Top £0.99 Charity Shop, Necklace £3.50 (sale) Topshop.

October Favourites...

November 01, 2012

Aloha Lovlies! Long time no see, (again....oops sorry!). I promise there will be more regular blog posts coming up! Anyway, on with my October Favourites. October has gone so quickly and I cannot believe it's November already (whhhaatt?) I don't have too many favourites this month but that's probably a good thing as I always seem to ramble on in my favourites posts.

001.Models Own Trio.
I love the colours in this trio which I picked up in TKmaxx for the most bargainous price of £6. I think the colours are perfect for autumn/winter and I have re-painted my nails with them many a time.

002. Primark Home Cinnamon Clove Scented Candle. I have never bought a candle from Primark before, but after smelling this and seeing the uber cute snowflake design on the top, I couldn't resist. It was a bargain at only £1.50!

003. Etre Natural Beauty Nail File (buy kit here). I love this nail file as it has different levels of abrasiveness. I especially like the buffing one as it leaves your nails beautifully soft and shiny. I use this along with the Etre Cuticle Oil for extra softness.

004. Topshop Cream Blush in 'Head Over Heels' (buy here). When I bought this blush I loved the colour but found it a bit of a faf to use. I left it and didn't use it much for a bit, but this month I have re-discovered my love for it. The colour is beautiful and it is actually really easy to apply. I use a dense brush and just dot a little my cheeks and blend. I don't think you get much product for the price though.

005. Now this a bit of a random one, but I received my new phone a couple of days ago and have fallen in love with it. It is the Samsung Galaxy S2. It is feels and works a bit like an Iphone (which I refuse to pay the extortionate price for) and it is far cheaper. I am no phone expert, but in simple terms, it is bloody brilliant!

Two Necklaces which I have been LOVING this month are:
this H&M gold necklace which is so versatile and was an absolute bargain at only £3.99, and...

this Topshop skull necklace which is beautiful and was a bargain
as I picked it up in the sale for £3.50!
