Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation...

February 20, 2014

Most of us beauty fanatics are always on the hunt to find the perfect base. Dewy? Matte? Glowy? Light? - the options are endless, but finding 'the one' can be a hard task.

I have owned this product for about a year but have only recently started using it properly. As I find with most Rimmel foundations the shade ranges are very minimal and I bought this (in shade 100 'Ivory') and thought it was too dark for me so could only really use it occasionally in the summer. However, when I saw a lot of bloggers talking about it I decided to dig it out and give it another go, and surprisingly, the colour is actually alright for me now as long as I blend it down my neck. Weird eh? I believe there is one shade lighter than this available so I would be interested in giving that one a whirl.

This foundation claims to be a 'Light Reflecting Radiance Foundation' which ticks all the boxes for me as a dewy glow is something I look for in a base. It is definatley dewy and I often just skip the powder for a beautiful healthy glow. I would say it offers a medium coverage that dries quickly and doesn't leave you feeling sticky or greasy. This foundation is good if you have dehydrated skin like me as it feels really moisturising. I'm not sure how it would fare with oily skinned gals as I think it  could end up looking a little 'disco ball'  if you didn't powder it but it would be worth a go.

It has a great lasting power and I just really like the way it makes my skin look. Holy grail material I hear you ask? I'm not sure yet, but it certainly love the stuff and I think it has quite possibly replaced my passion for Revlon Nearly Naked.

This foundation is really affordable as it retails at £6.99 which is an absolute bargain. I think at the moment I prefer this over the Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' foundation as it's not as glittery and just looks a bit more natural. Overall I really reccomend this foundation as it is a great everyday dewy base.

MAC 'Plumful' Lipstick...

After hearing Essiebutton sing the praises of MAC 'Plumful', I decided to pick it up and give it a go. It is a really pretty pinky purple colour that I think would flatter a lot of skin tones, but looks particularly nice on us pale gals. It is a lustre finish which I have to say has to be my least favourite of the finishes that I've tried, so it means that it is very moisturising, glossy and quite sheer. The colour can be built up or just worn with a quick swipe. As it is a lustre it doesn't last very long as it just wipes off the lips when you eat/drink etc.

I think the colour is beautiful but I wish it was just in a different finish and then it would be more favourable in my books. However I still think it is a beautiful lipstick and if you are a lover of more sheer glossy lipsticks then I think this would be perfect for you.

Haulin'...

February 09, 2014

I never really do many 'hauls' on my blog, mostly because I despise the word 'haul' and I often just show new things that I've bought in outfit/beauty posts. Recently though I've been acquiring quite a few new pieces (we will blame the January sales for that...) so I thought I would have enough to do a little 'What I Bought' post. It mostly consists of Topshop and Zara as I just can't seem to leave those plases alone. I want to live in them. Creepy?

Zara

The Smell Good Duo...

February 06, 2014

As a general rule of life people like to smell good - fact. This is why we spend lots of money on fancy sprays and vapours to spritz ourselves with and give us that o-so-chic aroma. But I like to use products that sit on the skin as well as perfumes to make me feel that little bit more fabulous.

Soap & Glory are very well known for their scents and I have to say they have delivered well with this set of beauties. The Foam Call Shower & Bath Body Wash and Butter Yourself Body Butter have quickly become firm staples in my shower routine. These shower gels quite frankly lather up like it's going out of fashion, and the suds are moisturising and smell amazing! The body butter is then slathered on to relieve my poor dry skin in this winter weather. Not only do they feel amazing but again...the scent is beautiful. I think the body butter smells like fig and even the thought of it as I'm writing is making me want to open the tub and give it a little wiff.

Have your tried any of these products? What is your favourite S&G product?

The Feline Flick...

When it comes to Liquid Liner, a lot of people get put off by the fact that it can be quite a tricky technique to master. I have been wearing liquid eyeliner for years now and it still turns out different every time, but I do have a few tips and tricks to help you on your way…

1. Know your eye shape
I see so many people with the wrong size line for their eye shape. If you have small or hooded eyelids then its a good idea to go with a thin line, very close to your lash line. If you have big wide eyes then its best to go for a thicker line going from the tear duct out.

2. Choose the right eyeliner for you
Whether this be gel, liquid, pen or kohl pencil, there are plenty of eyeliners to choose from. Personally I prefer liquid eyeliner as I think it is a little more forgiving and is easy for every day, but for a dramatic look I really like Gel.

3. Practise
Practise makes perfect when it comes to eyeliner I'm afraid. I find the easiest way is to apply a small amount of mascara first so that you have something to rest the eyeliner nib/brush onto. Then I use my pinky finger to rest my hand on my face and help guide the brush over. REMEMBER- Just like eyebrows, eyeliner flicks are sisters not twins! My eyes are slightly different shapes which means my eyeliner will never look identical, but it doesn't matter as long as they look similar. If you go wrong then just take a cotton bud, dip it in some make up remover and erase the mistake.

I hope this has helped a few of you with the oh-so-tricky task of eyeliner. Let me know if you try this out and how you get on! I'm thinking of doing another one of these posts about brows so keep your eyes peeled for that!
