The Perfect Mini Pamper Evening...

April 27, 2013

Every so often I like to take the time to give myself a little pamper. It makes me feel calm and I find it is a great way of getting rid of the stress of the day. My pamper evenings basically just consist of the normal things such as a long deep bath etc. , but I like to take my time and feel relaxed.. During Mid-Week I am often very busy and don't have much time so this is a mini pamper for making the most of the time you have!

First I take off all my make-up using the Garnier Skin Naturals Cleansing Water as it freshens me up and means that the steam from the bath doesn't make my make-up settle into my pores. I then cleans using Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. I am trying out a cheaper alternative to this at the moment but to be honest this stuff is the bomb! Then I use Clinique Liquid Facial Soap in Mild. I stop there and then tone and moisturise once I'm out the bath.

I like to then light a candle just to create a calm atmosphere. Mine is the W1A Piccadilly Candle from TKmaxx.

I then run my bath and use Dirty Works Bath Soak to create some calming bubbles and soften the skin. When in the bath I like to read a magazine or go on my phone (no emails or texts as this is a pamper evening- also be careful not to drop it in the bath!!) and then use a couple of products. I like to use the Soap and Glory Clean on Me Shower Gel  followed by the Dirty Works Glow Girl Buttery Salt Scrub. I also like to use a face mask so I used the Ahava Mud Masque as it just helps to get rid of all the toxins in your pores.

I then jump out the bath and give my hair a wash using the Tresemme Luxurious Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

I then get into some cosy PJ's, dry my hair and put it in a bun and watch Eastenders with a cup of tea. Bliss.

I hope this has inspired you to have a little pamper evening!

Dirty Works Glow Girl Buttery Salt Scrub...

April 19, 2013

As I was doing the weekly shop in Sainsbury's the other day, I was drawn to the beauty isle (that's not that difficult for me to be honest) by some amazing packaging that looked just like Soap&Glory. I was intrigued to discover the brand 'Dirty Works'. They were doing a half price offer so I thought I would pick up a few bits. Now some people might think this is weird but I don't particularly like the scent of Soap&Glory products. I find them a bit too sickly sweet, so when I smelt these in the shop and they smelt fresh and floral I was happy to give them a go. One of the items I picked up was the 'Glow Girl Buttery Salt Scrub'. I love the scent of this scrub as it is lovely but doesn't linger too long. The scrub itself is also super moisturising with just the right amount of abrasiveness. I think I paid about £2.50 (on offer) for this so it was an absolute bargain. I love the packaging as it looks super cute on display in the bathroom. Unfortunately  I dropped in the first time I went to use it and it cracked so it doesn't look as good as it once did! Overall I would say this is a great alternative to Soap&Glory- especially if you're on a budget! I'm not too sure if it is still on offer though!

Have you tried any Dirty Works products?

Make-Up Storage for Small Spaces...

April 08, 2013

If you saw my room tour a little while ago you'll know that in my house I'm not exactly blessed with space. That case is even more so when it comes to my bedroom. Don't get me wrong I adore where I live and the cosy feel of the place, it just means I have had to learn how to make the most of every inch of space I've got. I am going to do two posts on storage for small spaces - one make-up and one clothes.

Today is make-up and here is how I store it. It is not a make-up collection as such, just more how I like to present it and store it.

I have a vintage chest of draws/vanity which I store both some of my clothes and make-up in. The make-up is in the highest right hand draw and on the top surface. I like to collect lots of old tins and jars which I then store things in. I think they add a much more personal touch to a space than just buying the mainstream high-street storage solutions. Each one of them also has an amazing story to tell.

I keep my perfume tucked near the mirror, my jewellery seperated on vintage plates; my cotton wool pads in an old jam jar; my everyday make-up essentials in a lovely floral Cath Kidston tin; my make-up brushes in an old jam jar and the two foundations that I am testing out/using at the moment. I like switching certain items around every so often just to make sure I'm using everything that I have.

In the top right hand draw is the main bulk of my make-up. I have two squares from IKEA that I serperate things out with and I also use old candle glasses to stand things like Mascaras, Eyeliners etc. in. I store the nail polishes I use the most so that I can see them and I also keep the other foundations which I don't use as much in another old candle glass.

I love to keep my lipsticks in an old vintage biscuit tin which belonged to my Great Grandmother. It makes me feel like I'm re-using a bit of family history! I like to keep them bottom up so that I can easily see which brand/colour they are. I also keep my Clinique skincare in an old Fortnum & Mason tea tin which I picked up in an antiques shop.

Finally I keep all my bath/shower essentials in an old wine box, my hair products in a basket that is from IKEA and my everyday skincare essentials in a rather cute Beatles band box.

I hope this gave you some inspiration for your own little spaces!

Make a Statement...

April 03, 2013

Statement necklaces are my weakness. I would buy them all the time if I could but I have to restrain myself. They add such a beautiful touch to simple things such as a white or grey t-shirt and jeans etc. I thought that I would show you a few of my favourites...

H&M Gold Chain
I love the simplistic design of this necklace. It is so easy to just throw on and add a bit of an umph to an outfit. It is not online any more but you might find it in store still!?

Topshop Skull Necklace
This necklace adds a bit of grunge to an outfit but in a dainty spring way. The colours in the necklace go with so many things and I find myself gravitating towards it quite a bit. I got this in the sale a little while ago so I don't think it will be available any more?!

Primark Beaded Necklace
I love how this necklace falls and adds a beautiful pop of colour to an outfit. This was an absolute bargain as I got it in the sale in Primark a couple of weeks ago for £1!

Scope Large Hoop Necklace
I got this necklace in Scope the charity shop in they're 'new' jewellery section. It was in the sale and only cost me £2! It is great for adding a bit of drama to an outfit as it is quite big and chunky.

Jacket- Zara, Top-Primark, Necklace-Scope, Jeans-Topshop (charity shop) , Shoes-New Look and Sunglasses- Primark (mens)

As many of my necklaces are not available any more I thought I would show you my pick from the shops at the moment!
