A Wardrobe Full of Stripes...#2

November 27, 2013

This appears to be round two of my admittance to my love of stripes, but what can I say- I'm a stripe addict plain and simple. They go with most things and are just so easy to wear. I seem to own the same pieces of clothing just in different stripe variations multiple times over. I just can't get enough of them. The latest addition to my overflowing collection is this shoulder cut-out tee from Topshop. I picked it up in the sale for £8 ! (it would have been wrong not to buy it.....). I like pairing it with simple black skinnies and black flatforms for an elegant autumnal look. Sometimes simplicity is best when it comes to everyday dressing and this top just sums that up. To add a bit of umph I wore my new purple lipstick from Collection. I am trying to force myself into wearing more purple in my makeup for the autumn so this is a good place to start!

ELF Cosmetics Haul...

November 24, 2013

I know I'm meant to have been on a spending ban, but some how that has managed to fail. ELF were offering a 50% code for reaching 20,000 followers on twitter so I thought it would only be right to join in the celebrations and place an order! I've never ordered from ELF before so I was just putting things in my basket that I liked the look of. I have been using these products for a few weeks now so this will be a haul and mini review!

ELF Studio Blush in 'Mellow Mauve'
I've been interested in getting one of these blushes for a long time so I was pleased to get my hands on one. I got Mellow Mauve which is a pretty plum/pink colour perfect for autumn! It adds a nice injection of radiance to the face and I am impressed with the quality for the price. I also love the packaging as it reminds me so much of Nars packaging!

ELF Complete Coverage Concealer Kit in 'Light'
I picked this one up on a whim to be honest. I adore my MAC Pro Longwear concealer but was after a cheaper alternative with a similar coverage. I have to say I actually really like this product. It allows you to mix a colour that matches your skin really well and the coverage is incredible for the price. After buying it I read a few reviews that said it wasn't amazing but I actually really like it. The only thing is it can be a little drying and it needs setting with powder so it doesn't crease under the eyes!

ELF Eyebrow Kit in 'Medium'
I've gone off eyebrow waxes to fill my eyebrows in recently but I thought I'd give this a go anyway. The wax is very solid which makes it quite hard to use. I also find it doesn't give a very natural finish to the eyebrows, but it is a good colour match. I'd say at the moment I prefer to fill them in with powder.

ELF Single Eyeshadow in 'Rasberry Truffle'
I was really intrigued by this eyeshadow. I love reddy/brown colours for the autumn and winter so I liked the look if this. This eyeshadow is nicely pigmented and is a burnt red brown colour. It looks different on than what it looks like in the pan, but it's still a lovely colour. I haven't used it too much yet but so far I I'm liking it!

ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream
This is the product I have used the least since ordering so I can't give a great review. The blush is a coral colour that I think would be better in summer and the bronzer is quite orangey but that might be more promenant because I'm pale. I like the idea of using cream products to contour and blush so I will use this more. The packaging is incredible as it has a huge mirror!

ELF Eyeliner and Blending Brushes
These brushes were so cheap and they've actually been really good. I really the the eyeliner brush as I use it to fill in my eyebrows and the blending brush is great for the price. Not the softest or best quality but you can't complain for £1.50! Really recommend if you're on a budget.

So that was my ELF haul! I would love to make an order from then again- let me know your favourite ELF products!

You can find ELF at www.eyeslipsface.co.uk or In store for you lucky Americans!

I recommend signing up to Elf's emails as they are always sending through discount codes!

A wardrobe full of stripes...

November 17, 2013

I own far to many striped pieces of clothing. Quite frankly, I just own too many pieces of clothing, but stripes is a main theme across my wardrobe. I have been trying to stick to some kind of spending ban at the moment but I have to say I'm struggling. This is why I have been trying to wear more of the clothes in my wardrobe as I actually have quite a few things that I have only worn a number of times. When I'm looking around a shop lusting after something new, I remember the words of the great Gok Wan 'Shop Less, Wear More' and that is the ethos I'm trying to stick to!

I picked up this dress in Primark for a fiver last year. I didn't wear it too much as it wasn't a very flattering length, so I took five minutes, sewed the hem up an inch or two end et voila- a new dress! I really like how quirky this dress looks with the little collar and I like the fact that because it's striped it can jazz up more plain pieces like black and grey jumpers. Simply pairing it with tights, boots and a berry lip is a pertect at to make it autumn appropriate!

What's On My Face #3...

November 10, 2013

For this 'WOMF' I thought I would do a more autumnal but casual look that I wore today. It uses a new Clinique Palette love of mine which I featured in my October Favourites.

First I applied my base which was Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I love this stuff as it just gives a really light, natural finish. I then applied my MAC Prolongwear Concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes I had. I then set my make-up using the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder. I haven't quite made my mind up about how I feel about this product yet so I will let you know soon! I then contoured like normal with my Sleek Contour Kit in 'light'. I then filled in my eyebrows by mixing a matte brown eyeshadow from Natural Collection with a matte black eyeshadow from MUA to create a dark brown shade.

I then primed my eyelids using MUA Professional Eyelid Primer and used my new love, the Clinique Eye and Blush Duo. I used the 'Iced Lotus' blush to add a highlighted pinky glow to my cheeks and then used the light pink colour all over the lid and the darker plum colour in the crease. I then applied lashings of Benefit They're Real Mascara and a swipe of MAC Creme Cup Lipstick and Et Voila- C'est Fini!

An ode to Autumn...

November 05, 2013

I love dressing in Autumn and Winter as you can have so much more fun with layering and texture in an outfit. With the weather currently like it is layers are key, and my favourite combination at the moment...dresses and jumpers. I am utterly in love with this fluffy black jumper from Primark. They are all over the place at the moment but I just love the way they add interest to an outfit through texture. I've layered mine over this monochrome tea dress that I picked up for a fiver in Primark. I just love how versataille and effortless this look is. I'm thinking of picking up the same jumper in cream as they are so easy to wear!

Primark Haul A/W 13'...

November 02, 2013

Recently I have been wanting to update my wardrobe to make it ready for a/w. I already have far too many clothes but a trip to Primark was long over due, and seeing as I did pick up a few things I thought I would film a haul type video to show you guys what I got. I did pick up some of the items in the sale so you might not be able to get hold of them but I hope that a few of the full price garments are still in stores now. I know I would normally take photographs of everything I bought but I thought it would be a bit more fun to film a more interesting video! Let me know what you think...
