The Dewy Skin Thing

August 03, 2014

Having dewy, goddess style glowing skin seems to be something a lot of us lust after. To look lit from within and have your face looking like you effortlessly 'jus woke up like dis' to quote Beyonce, is something that can be a tricky thing to achieve. Having a dryer skin myself I find that using products to enhance the moisture and glow in my skin just makes it look its best. I can see how those with an oilier completion might want to stay clear of the full on 'dew', but just a bit won't harm eh?!

When my skin is looking dull and could do with an injection of life, these are the products I turn to. First of all you want to moisturise your skin well before you apply any makeup. A good moisturised base will stop your foundation from looking overly cake and clinging to any dry patches. Then you want to take a foundation with a good glow factor. In this case think Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. Just the right amount of glow, no disco ball shine in sight! I often like to mix this with something like the SEVENTEEN Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter to add even more of a glow. This product can also be used on any high points of the face to accentuate them and bring them forward.  If you are looking for more of a full on cheekbone highlight with a real shimmer, then something like the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder would do. To brighten your under eyes take a concealer ( I like MAC Prolongwear concealer in NC15) in a shade slightly lighter than your skin tone in order to add 'light and luminosity' to the area. Finally to add a pop of colour to the cheeks and give you that fresh faced look, use a cream blush & bronzer. These tend to be more dewy than their standard powder sisters and can make your face look really healthy. I like the ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer Cream in 'St Lucia' as it is really affordable and is a really lovely product after getting used to the sometimes tricky application!
