I don't really know where I am going with or why I am doing this post, but I feel I need to write my thoughts down as I have been thinking about this topic for a while.

What I want to address today is Blogging. The blogging/vlogging world has become an ever expanding and quickly growing place. There are so many people doing the same thing it feels hard to stand out from the crowd. I was reading Alix's post this morning in which she talks about the pressures that bloggers such as herself put on themselves to produce the best, most flashily edited content possible and it got me thinking. What was once a place where people would upload pictures from their phones just wanting to share with other people of the same interests what they were wearing that day, has now become a place where you are expected to have all the fancy equipment such as a DSLR and a fancy laptop from the outset, otherwise your might as well not even bother because you feel as if you have to compete with what is out there already.

When I started Love Vintage I didn't watch YouTube, or read that many blogs for that matter. I just enjoyed writing, liked fashion and when someone said to me one day in the December of 2011 'You should start a blog', I did.  Not for anyone else in particular, but for myself. I enjoyed writing blog posts and taking pictures on my 3 megapixel camera phone - it made me happy. I didn't have a schedule or know anything about how to take a proper picture, but I just did what made me happy and what I would like to read. Another thing people are often bothered about is followers. I for one am not too bothered about it at all though. I have a small but very nice following of people that read my blog. I would rather have 100 people that read, commented and communicated with me , than 10,000 people who didn't really care.

It's the same with YouTube. When I first discovered the amazing world of YouTube, massive vloggers such as Zoella only had 80,000-100,000 subscribers and now she is beyond 5 million in the space of 2 years. With all the new people that have discovered this world comes the pressure to produce content that is better than everyone elses. I enjoy doing things to the best of my ability but sometimes you have to remember why you blog. Is it because you're making you happy or because you're trying to please far to many people?


This is not me ranting about this world because I for one love it, I am merely putting down onto my space on the internet how I feel about something , just like I used to. If you're not a blogger this might sound odd but if you are then I hope you kind of understand where I am coming from.  If you are a blogger that finds it difficult then because of these new pressures then I will leave you with this. If it makes you happy then thats all that matters. If it doesn't then leave it come back to it and try again and I'm sure people will understand. After all you should be doing it for yourself and doing what you like as that will eventually make you stand out for who you are.

If you have been a dedicated reader of LV for a while, you might remember me claiming how I wasn't that into Muji storage and how I had come up with a better alternative myself. However, going back on my words I am writing a post today about how I have just added to my Muji storage collection - oops. I am aware that everyone and their mother seems to own these but they really are so beautiful and so practical. Being the organisational freak I am I just couldn't resist the opportunity to arrange my makeup so that each drawer held an organised delight of different products. Although I'm running out of space I wouldn't say no to collecting more as my make up collection appears to be ever expanding. Looks like the Muji drawers really are the true winners of Make-up storage!

When I have an important event to go to, I like nothing more than planning what I'm going to wear, how I'm going to do my hair, make-up etc. Recently I attended a very special event and thought I would share with you all what I wore. I wanted to look classy whilst still having a bit of fun with colour so I opted for a beautiful cream rose embroidered dress from Jones & Jones. For shoes I went with KILLER coral heels from Zara that did absolutely murder my feet after about two hours, but I tried to solider on as I think most girls do, and pretend that it was fine! Being the type of person I am I coordinated my lipstick and my shoes by wearing MAC 'Lady Danger' on the lips. It was almost an exact match for my shoes which in my view was fate...! To finish it off a gold clutch and I was good to go. I feel I need more excuses to dress up like this - it's fun!

When it comes to applying eye-shadow I am one of the most cache handed people you will meet. Forget all these people doing fancy cut creases and seamlessly blending one colour into another, I just about manage to get a kind of splodge of colour onto my lids. However, since purchasing a pair of fabulous colours from MAC, even I have been able to achieve some form of smokey eye for everyday.

Here we welcome Honey Lust and Antiqued. Both warm toned colours, one being more gold and the other more copper. When put together they create, in my opinion, the perfect everyday smokey eye. First goes on Honey Lust all over the lid and then blended some what into the crease goes Antiqued. Lashings of mascara and I'm good to go. My one gripe is that Honey lust is not the most easy to work with, and due to its gliterry nature is prone to fallout, however I love it dearly regardless. I don't feel the need to own a million different shades of brown eye-shadow now as these two are the bomb. Anyone have any eyeshadow recommendations for the perfect smokey eye?

Having dewy, goddess style glowing skin seems to be something a lot of us lust after. To look lit from within and have your face looking like you effortlessly 'jus woke up like dis' to quote Beyonce, is something that can be a tricky thing to achieve. Having a dryer skin myself I find that using products to enhance the moisture and glow in my skin just makes it look its best. I can see how those with an oilier completion might want to stay clear of the full on 'dew', but just a bit won't harm eh?!

I already featured this outfit in my Summer Lookbook, but thought I would post this anyway! Monki is one of those stores that just gets me. They have the craziest and most inspirational style, store and the best sales! When I was in there the other day spending far too much time meticulously searching the racks for the best sale offerings, I came across this amazing maxi dress. Being 5ft 2 (and a half!) maxi dresses are not usually something I gravitate towards, but recently I have been lusting after them. This seemed like the perfect one - simple, grey and a little bit grungy all at the same time. Obviously I had to cut the end off to avoid tripping over it, but I really like the new length. A pair of boots, a leather jacket and some red lippie and you are good to go. Simple, effortless style.

It appears to be the norm that in the blogging world once a month we collect what we have been loving together and share it with others, however it appears I have been truly pants at that over the last few months giving you all a grand total of 0 monthly 'favourites' posts *claps hands*.  However this months I got my act together and here is a few of the things I have been loving throughout the month of july.

Yes I did it people - I made another Youtube video. I've dabbled with it in the past but recently I have been feeling quite inspired to make another video. Now this is not to say I am now going to become a full time 'vlogger' as I find that with so many people doing YouTube nowadays that videos can become a bit 'samey'. Thats why I want to make more creative content than just your average sit in front of a camera and hold up items of clothing YouTuber. Its not to say thats bad, but its just not for me. My initial thought when Skorts became a new trend went something along the lines of 'wtf isn't that what you wear when you play netball?'. As you can probably tell I wasn't all that into it. However, recently what was once an odd concept to me has now become something I feel a need to collect. Not satisfied with the purchase of just one floral print skort I decided I needed more, so along came 2 more. I scoured depop and got hold of this amazing white Zara skort for and even more amazing price of £8. I love how versatile skorts are as pieces and they can be paired with so many different things. Im currently loving it with this gorgeous Zara stripe tee and a pair of leather boots.

Never before did I think I needed such an extravagant and luxury lip balm, however when one of my amazing friends bought me this beauty for my birthday, my mind changed. The Dior Rouge Serum Luminous Color Lip Treatment has got to be one of the nicest lip products out there. It is effectively an intensely moisturising sheer lip colour which adds a subtle hint of colour whilst making your lips baby soft. I have the colour '455' 'Tea Rose Crystal' which is just the perfect colour to pair with smokey eyes, simple liner or pretty much just any make up look. Something to remember though is to exfoliate your lips before using it otherwise it could cling a little. The packaging is beautiful and o-so luxe, but the only one gripe I have with it is that the product takes a lot of twisting and effort to get out. I'm aware it comes with a bit of a hefty price tag, but if you are looking to treat yourself or suffer from dry lips, then I would recommend you give this one a go.

It seems that one of the latest trends in footwear in recent times has been Nikes. Both men and women are now seen sporting running shoes on the bottom of stylish outfits - but I'm not complaining. Feeling as though I needed to submerge myself in this trend, not only did I buy a pair, but opted for a neon yellow pair. Yes you heard right - neon yellow. The best part of all of this is that I got £100 off them (we will thank the Nike Outlet Store for that) and so therefore buying such a brightly coloured pair of shoes didn't seem so bad. Mine are the Nike Free Flyknit 5.0. They are some if the COMFIEST shoes I have ever had the pleasure of putting on my feet and the novelty of walking around like a child feeling as if I'm walking on sponges still hasn't worn off. Not only can I wear these running, but I also love pairing them with simple outfits. A classic white shirt and a pair of black skinnies and you're good to go. I would honestly recommend everyone had a pair - they really are fab.
