Nuxe Reve De Miel

October 31, 2014

Dry lips is one of those things that I just can't stand. Thats why I feel like i've been on a never ending hunt to find the best lip balm out there - and finally could I have found my one? Nuxes Reve De Miel lip balm is a very hyped up product in the blogging world. Highly coveted by make-up artists such as Lisa Eldridge, this stuff is very well known, but I hadn't actually got round to trying it. I bought the stick version and have to say I wasn't very impressed. Yeah, it was a good lip balm but the moisturisation didn't last very long, and overall I was just left quite disappointed. However, on a trip to Paris I decided to pick up the pot version as it is a lot cheaper in France and I am very impressed. It is a thick paste consistency that smells a lot like Terry's Chocolate Orange. It is also quite matte when applied to the lips which makes it really easy to just wear alone as a simple everyday lip product. The moisturisation is really good lasting about 3/4 hours before I can feel that I might want to apply more. Overall I'm really impressed with this lip balm and would probably pay the far too overly priced £10 UK price tag for it!

The Instagram Wall

October 29, 2014

Instagram for me, is one of the best social media platforms around. You're not limited to 140 characters and you don't have to scroll through a feed of people moaning about nothing - you can simply express how you feel through a photo. After seeing a couple of people getting their Insta snaps printed last summer, I'd been meaning to order my own set and think of something creative to do with them. Finally, over a year later I have done so. Let me introduce to you - The Instagram Wall. This wasn't actually how I wanted to display my 48 prints which I bought from Polargram.com, but one Tuesday evening when the urge came over me, I decided to create this. What I love is however busy or mad it looks - it makes me happy. It makes me smile to look over and see all the thoughts and good times I've had and shared with people. As I keep adding to my Instagram though, I feel the wall might have to grow - all I can say is watch this space...

An Ode To Sundays

October 26, 2014

I've expressed my love for Sundays to you all before. The one day in the week in which it is acceptable to wake up late, stay in your pyjamas, eat so much roast dinner that you have to subtly unzip your trousers to allow yourself to breath - and then attempt to burn it all of afterwards in a country walk. Obviously not all Sundays are like this, but the ones that are - I treasure. Today I woke up at 8.10am which believe me is a lie in compared to my usual days, and enjoyed that feeling of knowing nothing was demanded of me. Having so much freedom leads you to feeling slightly bamboozled as to what to actually do with your time. The Sunday Morning clean was my choice. Sorting, Tidying, Washing - as an organiser I love this kind of stuff. (Watching YT videos whilst doing this passes the time with ease!) Then the face mask and the hair wash to make you feel cleansed from the week before. On goes the autumnal sunday attire which today consisted of a Zara skirt and grey knit jumper. Then lunch. Nothing seems more quintessentially British than a roast dinner in a country pub, spending time with loved ones. All of this makes me happy and I try my best to live in the moment and not think about the week ahead, but what I'm doing then in that very moment. After a slow amble around the country feeling far too full from all that extra pudding you tried to consume and then going home and lounging around the house watching something and nothing and managing to squeeze in a small amount of afternoon tea you didn't know you had the room for, all there is left to say is - thank you Sunday, you really are the best.

The Cat Eye Combo

October 22, 2014

It's a well known fact that I love a good bit of winged liner, and recently I've been using a pretty fab combo. Gel liner is something that is often seen as a bit of a faf, but recently Real Techniques have come out with a brush which makes it a whole lot easier. It takes a bit of getting used to but the Silicone Liner Brush has now made using gel liner everyday a lot easier. You can get a precise line and the best thing about it is the fact that you don't have to wash it everyday. The one thing I used to find really annoying about using a gel liner brush was that you could only use it once before the gel would dry on the brush and you had to wash it. With this I can use it multiple times before it needs a clean and even when it needs to be it does so easily. The liner that I use alongside this is the very well known MAC 'Blacktrack' Fluidline. It lasts well on me without a primer and glides on really easily. The only thing I would say is that it can take up to 2 layers to get it really black and opaque. Have you got any winged liner recommendations?

Hello Autumn

October 19, 2014

It's really beginning to feel like Autumn now which is all very exciting as the idea of cold frosty mornings, warm cosy jumpers and big knitted scarves is just so lovely. However thats quite an idealistic view of autumn as the reality is that it has just been cold, wet and rainy. One of my favourite things about this time of year though, is the start of having a warming Sunday roast. I went to a lovely pub on Sunday and had a fab roast followed by a walk. I wore this Zara leather skirt for the fist time paired with a grey, high neck jumper. The boyfriend coat made an appearance along with the standard Topshop leather boots which I practically live in! I'm excited for dressing in the colder months now as I am a massive fan of layering.

La Roche Posay Serozinc

October 15, 2014

Theres always products which float around the blogging world that are very hyped up. They carry the 'YOU MUST TRY THIS' label from every beauty blogger and you just get sucked into buying them. That's how I felt about this product, the only problem being you had to buy it in France - and I live in the UK. In late summer I was lucky enough to go to Paris, so when I made the obligatory trip to CityPharma, I made sure to stock up on these. I ended with three in my basket - 2 for me and one for my Mum. At first I wasn't too sure what to make of it, it just felt like water in a can. It wasn't until I kept using it that I realised how much I actually loved it. I don't even know how to describe it, but if I didn't use this product, boy would I miss it. It is a 'Zinc Sulphate Solution' (theres no need to pretend - I have no idea what that is either...), which says it 'soothes razor burn' and is for 'oily skin'. I don't have oily skin at all but I find that this stuff when used as my toner is amazing at calming the skin. Any redness or breakouts is soothed overnight with this and it generally just makes my skin feel a lot nicer. All I have left to say is that if you're in Paris BUY IT and if not lets just hope La Roche Posay can get their act together and bring this stuff easily to the UK, because crossing the English Channel every time I run out is going to be a bit of a pain!

The Everyday Red

October 12, 2014

I adore red lipstick. To me it symbolises femininity and a certain classic chic that is timeless. I find wearing it in daytime can be tricky sometimes though, but can easily be pulled of with the right shade of red! The cult classic from MAC 'Rubywoo' has to be my all time favourite red, but sometimes I want to wear something a little less 'pow' (you get what I mean?!). Recently in the need to satisfy my lipstick cravings, I scoured the aisles of Boots until I found this beauty. LOreal is somewhere I've never bought a lipstick from but since buying this it's left me wondering why?! 'Eva's Pure Red' is a beautiful orangey toned red with a satiny finish that is perfect for an everyday. It's less bright than something like 'Lady Danger', but is bright enough that you feel empowered by putting it on. The lasting power is amazing and it fades really nicely. For £6.99 this lipstick is amazing and I would love to look into trying more LOreal lipsticks. Any reccomendations?

Throwback

October 08, 2014

I wanted to do a very quick outfit post today as I found an outfit which I hadn't posted on my memory card and thought I'd share it with you all. It was taken at the beginning of September back when the weather was warmer and my hair was much longer. Pairing jumpers and dresses is one of my favourite things at the moment and I really love how this outfit combines, lace, knit and leather for a soft grungy feel.

Sundays

October 05, 2014

My favourite thing about the week is Sundays. It is my only day off in a week so I like to make the most of it! Waking up on a Sunday and realising I don't have to be anywhere is one of the best feelings! On a typical Sunday I like nothing more than taking it slow. I've become a bit of an old woman recently and if I'm not working etc. I like nothing more than relaxing in my pyjamas and going on walks - party animal eh?!  For this Sunday outfit I decided to wear the MOST comfortable dress I've ever owned from Brandy Melville. It's so soft and comfy I barley feel like I've even bothered getting dressed. Paired with a simple pair of boots and a red lip this is my Sunday style summed up.

October

October 01, 2014

It doesn't seem like a year ago that I wrote a post named 'October' on this blog. It's crazy how fast time passes and so much has happened in a year. I wanted to put up this outfit post but also catch you all up on a few things. Firstly, the lack of content. It annoys me that I don't always post consistently but I have one day off a week so blogging sometimes has to take a back seat, but when I can I love it! Secondly - I got the chop! As many of you will know I had very long hair down to my belly button that quite frankly just needed to go! I've been thinking about cutting my hair for MONTHS and I am SO glad that I did! It is so much more sophisticated and easier to manage, and taking the plunge and lopping off the best part of 6 inches or so of my hair was the best decision I could have made. Lastly the outfit. The weather is still warm enough that the big coats don't quite need to make an appearance just yet, so this duster jacket from Primark is the perfect in-between choice. Paired simply with some grey jeans, a white v-neck tee and red lip, this is simple, everyday dressing that I love.
