The Elegant Touch

November 19, 2014

I love having long elegant nails that really make you look classy and well put together, however naturally I'm far from that. My natural nails are weak, don't grow very long and are generally not all I would like them to be. Back in the summer I discovered a false nail brand which I love - Elegant Touch. I'm not into the idea of getting acrylics as I don't want to damage my already weak nails, therefore I have been using the Elegant Touch Totally Bare nails. These nails are a beautiful shape and are really good value for money. Out of each pack I get about 3 applications and you can paint the nails any colour you like. On me they last around 4 days which isn't amazing but I'm on the hunt for some stronger glue that might hold them for longer (recommendations welcomed...). I love these nails as I just think they add a really elegant look to an outfit. The one thing I would say is that false nails can take a bit of getting used to. Typing on my macbook is quite tricky especially with the '003' stiletto nails. However it's not impossible and quite frankly I love the way they look too much to stop wearing them! Lets just say - thank goodness for auto-correct!

How I apply false nails -

1. Remove any old polish from the nails

2. Choose nail colour + top coat

3. Lay everything out and size up nails against natural nails

4. Apply at a 45 degree angle and press down until fully bonded

5. Paint

MAC Diva

November 12, 2014

A/W lip colours are some of my faves. Deep burgandys symbolise the time of year for me, and the latest addition to my winter lipstick collection is none other than MAC 'Diva'. This is one of the most beautiful deep, burgundy reds I've come across. The best thing about it is that it's matte, but not drying. One layer will give you a dark red and another swipe will take you down to the deeper side of it all with a really cool vampy lip. I have no complaints about this lipstick and I recommend it to anyone who wants to give a vampy lip a go. Does anyone have any more suggestions as to some good MAC A/W lipsticks?

RED

November 09, 2014

Red is a colour I never really wear. I'm more of a black, grey and white kinda gal so stepping into unknown colour territory can be a bit daunting. I walked past this shirt so many times wondering whether or not I should buy it, eventually I decided I would be brave and do so. Who knew that I would now have a love for the colour red. Wearing it with black makes it a lot easier to style for me, but I have liked the colour so much that I've actually gone and bought another red item for my wardrobe. Who knows, maybe I'm changing...

Converse

November 05, 2014

One of my most popular blog posts to date is my 'Shoe Unboxing' for a pair of white high-top converse. It has over 480 re-pins on pintrest and it makes me wonder what all the fuss is about. Yeah, I like converse, but I didn't realise how popular they really are. I was browsing pictures on tumblr and pintrest, and it was really making want another pair. Black Oxfords looked to be the best as to me, they just looked as if they would make an outfit look effortlessly cool and chic. I decided finally to bite the bullet and buy a pair and I couldn't be happier. I really want to give a mention though to the online store that I bought them from. This is not sponsored and I have no affiliation with the company - I was just genuinely SO impressed. Cloggs.co.uk is a fab site which sells a load of branded shoes and offers FREE next day delivery (if ordered before 8pm) as standard. I was also able to get 20% student discount (it's usually 10% but there was a special offer) which meant I got these shoes for an amazing price of just over £34! The service was super speedy and they kept you up to date all the way along as to where your parcel was - I couldn't recommend them more. I love styling these shoes up with very casual and basic outfits. Pairing them with black skinny jeans and a leather jacket has become my everyday uniform at the moment and I'm very glad I finally have a pair in my shoe-drobe!

Hi My Name Is...

It seems that recently I've been giving all of my money to Topshop like it's going out of fashion, and the latest thing I've acquired from them is this insane slogan Tee. I'm aware slogan tees are a bit love/hate for some people but I do have a soft spot for them. This amazing one is from the Ashish X Topshop collab, and after seeing it on various people around the interwebs I got my hands on one, and it was only in the bloody sale for a tenner! Originally £40, I thought that was far too expensive for a t-shirt but as a sale treat I love it. This is my T-shirt on those days where I can't really be bothered to dress up nicely and I just want to be comfy. Paired with jeans and these converse you have a lazy day outfit sorted. On the other hand you can easily dress up a basic slogan tee by pairing it with something like a printed pencil skirt. They really are a versatile day/night piece that I love to have in my wardrobe.

Nuxe Reve De Miel

October 31, 2014

Dry lips is one of those things that I just can't stand. Thats why I feel like i've been on a never ending hunt to find the best lip balm out there - and finally could I have found my one? Nuxes Reve De Miel lip balm is a very hyped up product in the blogging world. Highly coveted by make-up artists such as Lisa Eldridge, this stuff is very well known, but I hadn't actually got round to trying it. I bought the stick version and have to say I wasn't very impressed. Yeah, it was a good lip balm but the moisturisation didn't last very long, and overall I was just left quite disappointed. However, on a trip to Paris I decided to pick up the pot version as it is a lot cheaper in France and I am very impressed. It is a thick paste consistency that smells a lot like Terry's Chocolate Orange. It is also quite matte when applied to the lips which makes it really easy to just wear alone as a simple everyday lip product. The moisturisation is really good lasting about 3/4 hours before I can feel that I might want to apply more. Overall I'm really impressed with this lip balm and would probably pay the far too overly priced £10 UK price tag for it!

The Instagram Wall

October 29, 2014

Instagram for me, is one of the best social media platforms around. You're not limited to 140 characters and you don't have to scroll through a feed of people moaning about nothing - you can simply express how you feel through a photo. After seeing a couple of people getting their Insta snaps printed last summer, I'd been meaning to order my own set and think of something creative to do with them. Finally, over a year later I have done so. Let me introduce to you - The Instagram Wall. This wasn't actually how I wanted to display my 48 prints which I bought from Polargram.com, but one Tuesday evening when the urge came over me, I decided to create this. What I love is however busy or mad it looks - it makes me happy. It makes me smile to look over and see all the thoughts and good times I've had and shared with people. As I keep adding to my Instagram though, I feel the wall might have to grow - all I can say is watch this space...

An Ode To Sundays

October 26, 2014

I've expressed my love for Sundays to you all before. The one day in the week in which it is acceptable to wake up late, stay in your pyjamas, eat so much roast dinner that you have to subtly unzip your trousers to allow yourself to breath - and then attempt to burn it all of afterwards in a country walk. Obviously not all Sundays are like this, but the ones that are - I treasure. Today I woke up at 8.10am which believe me is a lie in compared to my usual days, and enjoyed that feeling of knowing nothing was demanded of me. Having so much freedom leads you to feeling slightly bamboozled as to what to actually do with your time. The Sunday Morning clean was my choice. Sorting, Tidying, Washing - as an organiser I love this kind of stuff. (Watching YT videos whilst doing this passes the time with ease!) Then the face mask and the hair wash to make you feel cleansed from the week before. On goes the autumnal sunday attire which today consisted of a Zara skirt and grey knit jumper. Then lunch. Nothing seems more quintessentially British than a roast dinner in a country pub, spending time with loved ones. All of this makes me happy and I try my best to live in the moment and not think about the week ahead, but what I'm doing then in that very moment. After a slow amble around the country feeling far too full from all that extra pudding you tried to consume and then going home and lounging around the house watching something and nothing and managing to squeeze in a small amount of afternoon tea you didn't know you had the room for, all there is left to say is - thank you Sunday, you really are the best.

The Cat Eye Combo

October 22, 2014

It's a well known fact that I love a good bit of winged liner, and recently I've been using a pretty fab combo. Gel liner is something that is often seen as a bit of a faf, but recently Real Techniques have come out with a brush which makes it a whole lot easier. It takes a bit of getting used to but the Silicone Liner Brush has now made using gel liner everyday a lot easier. You can get a precise line and the best thing about it is the fact that you don't have to wash it everyday. The one thing I used to find really annoying about using a gel liner brush was that you could only use it once before the gel would dry on the brush and you had to wash it. With this I can use it multiple times before it needs a clean and even when it needs to be it does so easily. The liner that I use alongside this is the very well known MAC 'Blacktrack' Fluidline. It lasts well on me without a primer and glides on really easily. The only thing I would say is that it can take up to 2 layers to get it really black and opaque. Have you got any winged liner recommendations?
