Studying fashion means I am often surrounded by a ton of inspiration when it comes to street style. Someone who gets it right constantly is Ashleigh. She too studies fashion at uni, and the day I met her I was instantly drawn to her quirky and fun style. I still remember exactly what she wore - a pair of black Zara culottes (I happened to be wearing the exact same ones...!) and a blue leather jacket, with her hair in these kooky little space buns which looked so effortlessly cool. Her outfits are often a mix of indie brands and items from mainstream high-street stores such as Zara. Whatever she puts on she looks amazing, and her style is a true inspiration of how to stand out from the crowd and own it.

They are a truly versatile piece for your wardrobe and work well day or night. Culottes make you look instantly put together when in fact you have probably made minimal effort. Also, what with the wide, flowing nature of them it makes you feel as though you are still wearing pyjamas which is always a bonus. I have been trying to venture away from wearing black all the time, and so this pink pair offer a great alternative and add some well needed colour to my outfits. Wear with black, white or grey and you have an instantly chic look. If you are yet to venture into the world of culottes, I couldn't recommend it enough. Men may find them a bewildering concept, but women will envy your effortlessly cool style - trust me.

Being a student it seems I never have any money. Being a fashion student means I always wish I had money because a whole semester not being able to buy new clothes is truly a hard task! The January sales have been my excuse to spend what should have probably gone on food, on some new clothes for the new year...
ZARA is where its at in terms of incredible sales purchases this year. I placed a rather large order on Christmas Day as soon as the sale begun, but have no regrets about doing it. I have had my eye on this leopard print jacket since it hit the shops about 4 months ago. Shamefully, I've even stopped people in the street wearing this jacket just to tell them I love it - bad, I know. Finally to have my hands on it is an incredible feeling and I am yet to take it off. It is tastefully tacky and I am ready to embrace my inner Kat Slater with it. Another ZARA sale purchase is this simple sweatshirt. Perfect for days when you want to just throw something on and be comfortable whilst still looking like you made an effort (in student terms thats 'perfect for a 9am lecture when you're hungover and would rater be in bed...).

I just want to start off by apologising for being so MIA lately. I have been so focused on my new life at uni that I've pushed my blog to the back bench a bit which is not something I wanted to do. I have so much content I want to post, but it's just finding the time to do it that is always the challenge! My new years resolution for 2017 is to blog more often, so hopefully I can make that happen.
For now though, I didn't want to miss out on my annual round up of what I wore this year. 2016 by far has been the best year of my life. I've travelled, met new people, started new things and just had an absolute ball doing it all. It is so nice to say for once that I am incredibly excited for 2017 and what it has to bring. I honestly can't wait.

It's 10am on a cold, Wednesday morning, and I have been tasked with finding Winchester's best street style. This is something I thought would be impossible given the stereotype of the hungover student, rocking up to a 9am lecture in a onesie. However, stereotypes were broken this morning, and it seems I have found outfit inspiration where I least expected it.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING TODAY?
'me and my friend have just come out of a lecture and are on our way to get a hot chocolate and have a little chill. I'm a commuting student so after that I have to head back to Portsmouth where I'm from and then go to work. Tonight is a big night out though and we're going to go to BOP (Winchester's studnet night). We are all dressing as where's wally it should be really fun.'

'well it wasn't absolutely freezing when I got up this morning so I decided that I could wear something that is actually quite decent and not have to wrap up in chunky jumpers and look like a slob!'
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON STYLE AT UNIVERSITY?
'um...I think it's quite casual. I thought when I got to uni that it was going to be lots of people with very particular styles but its not it is quite causal. I think a lot of people like me who commute, don't have time to make a special effort in the morning.'

I'm going on placement at a primary school next week and there is quite a few rules on what we can wear, so this week I am literally just wearing everything I want to'

'I wore dungarees because I can't wear them on placement. I have the comfiest T-shirt on from brandy Melville because I just wanted to be comfortable.'

' I think at this point it's just what people want to wear, so I think it's quite nice that you don't have to make an effort but no one is judging you if you do want to make an effort. It's totally like wear what you want to wear.'
